Board Meeting Minutes for April 29, 2008

WEDGWOOD COMMONS MEETING MINUTES
April 29, 2008

The meeting was called to order by Faith Brasch at 7:10pm. Attendees were Susanne Strichartz, Rebecca Jozwiak, Nancy Efrusy, Karen Smart, Herb Alexander, and Bert Green.


MINUTES
Minutes from the 11-13-07 meeting were reviewed and approved.


TREASURER’S REPORT
Most of the dues have been collected. The remaining outstanding dues payments were discussed and various tactics for collecting based upon individual circumstances determined.

There is roughly $16,000 in a CD without FDIC approval. It was determined that the account will be closed and money transferred to a new FCIC-approved account. If signatures of Marshall, Chuck and Arnetta are needed, Faith and Susanne will obtain these.

Liability insurance of $695 is due and scheduled for payment.


WELCOMING
No new owners have moved in, though it was noted that renters are becoming more common. It was determined that Susanne will begin welcoming renters with a gift, directory and neighborhood covenant.

Discussion about how to handle a potential buyer who is determined to build a fence despite the subdivision rules. Susanne is to follow up with selling agent.


COMMONS MAINTENANCE
Meier told Bert he was finished with spring cleanup, but several neighbors noted conditions to the contrary. Bert requested, with Meier’s acknowledged approval, that payment not be made until we are satisfied with the work completed. Meanwhile, Bert will look into the possibility of bids for new lawn care contractors.

Damage was done to the Turtle Park swing set and surrounding trees with scribble-type graffiti. Upon recommendation from Rolling Oaks board member, Bert will spray brown paint over the offending marks on the trees, and the swing set paint will be matched.

Bert has been emptying the Turtle Park garbage can regularly and has purchased a new supply of bags at his own expense.

Bert is looking into getting the wood Turtle Park benches repaired, either by a handyman or Chuck.

Bert will research a vandal-proof tennis net to replace the current damaged net. The new net will be taken down and stored for the winter prior to Halloween, and put back up in the spring. At this same time, Bert will purchase and hang an inexpensive basketball net.


CHATTER
Spring issue topics will include Rolling Oaks activities and a request to keep an eye out for graffiti in action. Karen has offered to make copies, and Susanne has offered to mail them out.


NEW BUSINESS
Karen proposed setting tentative quarterly meeting dates during the annual meeting so neighbors can put the board meetings on their calendars.

The meeting adjourned at 8:07pm.
